Purpose

The purpose of Filegroove is to extract the data from the content of a wide variety of files or data streams that you receive from customers, suppliers, banks, insurance companies, warehoues, employers etc., and transform it into a specified "standard" format that is required for processing by either your internal system(s) or external system(s).

The source input files could be:

• Excel
• CSV
• PDF
• Text
• XML
• and many more

The source input files can contain any data representing any type of objects such as people, organizations, members, employees, payments, contributions etc.,

A multitude of formats

Source files from different organizations are typically provided in a format that was designed by that organization. The range of formats is limited only by the number of organizations whose data you must process (in some cases multiple formats are produced by a single organization!).

The multitude of formats exist in most industries even though the data they contain is conceptually the same for any particular industry - it's just expressed differently - in different columns, fields, differently named fields and values are often expressed differently e.g. file dates. There are often cases where insufficient data is supplied in any one column/field/element in the source file but must be 'synthesized' from data in multiple columns/fields/elements in the file.
